History professor Jok Madut Jok has been in Southern Sudan, a region expected to become an independent country after a vote on separation in mid-January. Jok is working in the ministry of culture for the autonomous region of Sudan and has been profiled by the Associated Press and quoted in the UK Guardian, among other publications.
